She Kills Monsters Notes/Reflection
She Kills Monster was an amazing show. I loved being part of the cast. It was cool to be a big character in the play. I liked fighting and using a staff. I love being this super fun, confident person. In the show we used a lot of blocking to express emotion of the characters. I tended to act as if the audience wasn’t there and I forced on the scene to express that they seeing the scene yet not part of it. We showed a lot of tension through fighting. For example, at the end of scene 5 we had a big fight scene and the beat drop of the song was like 30 seconds into the song so the adventurers are standing there looking at the misters before they fight them. Same with most fighting scenes. The lighting in the showed some emotion. Like how the light were brighter in the fantasy world than the real world, The atmosphere was complicated because the universe of the real world versus the fantasy world were constantly changing. The atmosphere/vibe in the fantasy world was bravery and confidence. The atmosphere/vibe in the real life is more serious. The meaning of the play to me is no matter who you are, we should accept you and that family means a lot to people. The made up person the character have created in the fantasy world are the people they want to be and who they want to be which shows they haven’t accepted their selves and at the end at the table they are all the characters they are in the fantasy world which shows that they are the person want to be. As a person who experienced the loss of a sibling, I could relate to the story and I appreciate how the comedy helps me cope with the trauma through in real life and in the play.
