Overall Viewpoint Reflection
Participating in the view point theater was very fun. We got to experience being in the audience and being on stage. We got to experience having the small things in theater affect us in big ways. I am used to just being on stage and acting the way my character is though in this activity I focused on my natural state on stage. I loved when we got to interact with our classmates. It was fun to see how our friends reacted to the small things too. Like when we interact with the lights and let them affect us. I created this whole vision of the lights and I made them come to life. Also how a word can change our way of acting. Ironically, when we were focusing on our own word I was given war the first time and violence the second time. In real life I am a kind and gentle person so it was very weird to realize how one word can change my behavior so much. Also with levels it was so hard for me because of my height. Being loud versus quiet was also fun. I liked to be quiet and small a lot. I also felt like the platforms in the black box affected the acting and scenes we did because it was another level. It was hard to walk with a speed though because moving faster made it harder to think. Also how we created many different versions of the same word. Like for the word freedom, I came up with freedom from your parents when you start learning to drive, when you are on a timeout or when you quit a job you hate. It was very interesting going from the black box to outside. Being outside made the black box feel like a cage of some sort and when we were outside I felt like there were no limits. Also with the small things it was hard to react to light and levels because we couldn’t have different things than the average day. I honestly want to do a scene where we interact with our classmates more often and getting words to act like or portray would be so interesting.
